Nilgiris hit by 62 landslips in 24 hours amid steady rain

Tamil Nadu's Nilgiris district recorded 62 landslips in the 24 hours to Sunday morning, damaging 16 huts and 16 revetments, while 28 trees were uprooted. Parsons Valley recorded the highest rainfall at 52 mm. A day earlier, a landslip buried a state transport bus near Burliyar, killing its driver. Traffic on the Mettupalayam-Coonoor stretch remains suspended.
