Rybakina clinches year-end world number one ranking

Elena Rybakina has secured the year-end women's singles number one ranking after beating Yulia Putintseva 6-2 6-3 in the last 16 of the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo. The 27-year-old from Kazakhstan, who won the Australian Open and US Open this year, served six aces. She next faces Leylah Fernandez and will defend her WTA Finals title in Indian Wells from November 8.
