Tripura opens its first tea auction centre to speed up sales

Chief Minister Manik Saha inaugurated Tripura's first tea auction centre in Agartala, making it the second northeastern state after Assam, and fifth in India, with such a facility. About 60% of the state's tea is now auctioned outside Tripura, and a consignment takes around 44 days to sell. Officials expect the new centre to cut that time by about 40%.
