Mirwaiz cites Crisis Group report, urges justice alongside security in Kashmir

Addressing Friday prayers at Srinagar's Jamia Masjid, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said a new International Crisis Group report shows violence in Kashmir has declined, but underlying political grievances remain unresolved. Citing Home Ministry figures, he said 3,662 people were arrested under UAPA in J&K between 2019 and 2023, with only 23 convictions, and sought a review of detainees' cases.
