Webb finds lava planet shielded by reflective 'sunscreen' clouds
Astronomers using the James Webb Space Telescope have found that TOI-561 b, a scorching rocky planet about 280 light-years away covered in molten rock, appears to hold a thick atmosphere despite extreme conditions. It reflects about 75% of incoming starlight, possibly because mineral clouds act like a giant sunscreen, and may be replenishing its atmosphere from its magma ocean.
