SC warns Rajasthan of CBI probe over illegal mining in Jojari river system

The Supreme Court on Monday pulled up the Rajasthan government over officials' role in illegal mining affecting the Jojari-Luni-Bandi river system, noting that mining leases were regularised even after violations were found. A Bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta warned of a CBI investigation if the State fails to act. The Jojari is a lifeline for nearly two million people.
