Century-old Isle of Wight fossil reveals Europe's first megaraptoran dinosaur
A skull fossil found on England's Isle of Wight and held by London's Natural History Museum since 1924 has been identified as a new long-clawed predatory dinosaur, Invictibellatrix amberina. It lived about 120 million years ago and is the first megaraptoran found in Europe. Megaraptorans were agile two-legged carnivores related to tyrannosaurs. The fossil was collected by amateur palaeontologist Reginald Walter Hooley.
