Virgin Media O2 to cut thousands of jobs

UK telecoms firm Virgin Media O2 is set to make thousands of staff redundant as it tries to save money amid billions of pounds of debt and tougher competition. The final number has not been decided, but it is expected to be a sizeable portion of its 16,000-strong workforce. The company faces rivals including BT, which is acquiring TalkTalk.
