Lucknow teacher wins Oxford climate award for zero-waste period lessons

Mariya Shah of Prerna Girls School, Lucknow, won the teacher category at the Oxford Saïd Global Climate Tech Challenge 2026 for 'Break the silence: Zero waste periods to combat climate change'. Her lessons link menstrual health with the environmental impact of period products and waste reduction. Winners were announced on October 30 after finals in Oxford.
