Feral dogs pose major threat to vultures in Thar desert, study finds
A study in Biological Conservation finds free-ranging dogs seriously threaten vultures at a carcass dump in Bikaner's Jorbeer Conservation Reserve, where migratory Himalayan and Eurasian griffons gather each winter. Vultures spent half as long feeding at the open dump as at dog-free enclosures. India's vulture numbers crashed over 90% in the 1990s, largely due to diclofenac.
