Toyota's EV sales more than double, but China slump drags global sales

Toyota and Lexus sold 309,766 battery electric vehicles globally in the first nine months of 2026, up 127.4% year on year, helped by updated models like the bZ4X and new ones such as the C-HR+ and Urban Cruiser. However, slumping demand for petrol and hybrid cars in China has pushed Toyota's overall global sales down for three straight months.
