T. rex 'Stan', found in South Dakota in 1987, now stands in Abu Dhabi
In 1987, Stan Sacrison found a Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton in South Dakota. The bones were initially misidentified and only recognised as T. rex in 1992. After years at the Black Hills Institute, the well-preserved specimen was auctioned for $31.8 million and bought for a museum in Abu Dhabi, where it is displayed battling another T. rex.
