Bennu samples suggest Jupiter shaped the asteroid's origins
A chemical analysis of asteroid Bennu samples returned by NASA's OSIRIS-REx mission suggests the asteroid formed where material from the inner and outer Solar System mixed, with Jupiter playing a key role. The study, published in Science Advances by a team including ETH Zurich's Maria Schönbächler, challenges earlier ideas about Bennu's birthplace some 4.5 billion years ago.
