Icy object beyond Pluto revives the 'what is a planet' debate

A newly found icy body beyond Pluto, named 2026 ED138, has rekindled debate over what counts as a planet. Spotted by Chile's Vera C Rubin Observatory, it is estimated at 600 to 1,500 km wide and orbits about 46 times the Earth-Sun distance. More observations are needed to confirm whether it joins Pluto, Eris, Haumea, Makemake and Ceres as a dwarf planet.
