Wreck off Turkey may be world's oldest known shipwreck
Archaeologists believe a shipwreck in shallow waters off Kekova, west of Antalya in Turkey, could be the world's oldest. Based on pottery in its cargo, the team tentatively dates it to around 2700–2400 BCE, about 4,500 years ago, older than the Dokos wreck in Greece. Found in 2024 by Hakan Öniz, the findings await peer-reviewed publication.
