Scientists in China find 'D-rex', a giant 20-inch fungus

Researchers from the Kunming Institute of Botany have identified a giant new fungus in Yunnan province, southwestern China. Named Dianjunus rex, or D-rex, it rises nearly 20 inches and weighs close to five pounds. It grows from the woody roots of Chinese cork oak trees, and genetic evidence suggests its lineage dates back about 65 million years.
