Three giant black holes found in a galaxy from the early universe
Astronomers led by the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics have found three actively feeding supermassive black holes in a single galaxy, J0148-4214, more than 12.5 billion light-years away. Seen as it was just 1.2 billion years after the Big Bang, the galaxy offers a rare look at how enormous black holes grew and interacted early on.
