SC grants bail to two convicts in Bilkis Bano case

The Supreme Court has granted bail to two convicts in the 2002 Bilkis Bano gang rape case, citing their 17 years in prison. A bench of Justices MM Sundresh and PB Varale ordered the release of Bipinchand Joshi and Pradip Modhiya on October 28. Eleven men were convicted in 2008. In 2024 the court had quashed Gujarat's early release of all 11.
