Ethiopia gets 12 Russian Su-35 jets, plans S-400 purchase

Ethiopia has received 12 Russian Su-35 fighter jets and will acquire four S-400 air defence batteries, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed announced during the Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow. He said the jets arrived a year ahead of schedule and would help deter aggression. The deal comes as Ethiopian forces battle rebels in Tigray and a separate insurgency in Amhara.
