Vitamin D deficiency rising among young people, doctors warn
Doctors in the UK say vitamin D deficiency is becoming more widespread, especially among girls and young women. Nearly a quarter of 11- to 18-year-olds were classed as deficient last year. Paediatric endocrinologist Dr Suma Uday calls it a silent disease, as symptoms like fatigue and bone pain are easily missed. Most vitamin D is made through sunlight on skin.
