BYD's workforce tops 1.02 million, more than Toyota, GM, Ford and Tesla combined

BYD now employs more than 1.02 million people, chairman Wang Chuanfu said at a Chinese auto engineers' conference, more than Toyota, GM, Ford and Tesla combined. The Chinese automaker added roughly 150,000 workers in 10 months even as vehicle sales fell. About 960,000 work in China, and up to 120,000 are R&D engineers. Wang credited vertical integration for the company's scale.
