Sensex, Nifty end flat in volatile trade as bank stocks slip

Benchmark indices ended almost unchanged on Tuesday amid high crude prices, selling in bank stocks and caution ahead of the US Federal Reserve's decision. The Sensex slipped 8.08 points to 73,598.67 and the Nifty fell 3.45 points to 22,749.75. SBI, Axis Bank, TCS and HDFC Bank were among the laggards, while Bharti Airtel, Trent and Maruti gained.
