Toyota's EV sales more than double as China slump drags overall sales

Toyota, including Lexus, sold 309,766 battery electric vehicles globally in the first nine months of 2026, up 127.4% year on year. But overall sales fell for a third straight month, with September down 2.2% to 860,107 vehicles. In China, sales dropped nearly 20% as rising gasoline prices hit demand for petrol and hybrid cars.
