RBI Governor urges states to borrow prudently and spend wisely

RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra on Tuesday advised state governments to follow prudent borrowing strategies, manage cash efficiently and maintain the quality of their spending to protect long-term fiscal health. Speaking at the 36th Conference of State Finance Secretaries, attended by 27 states and three Union Territories, he also urged them to make better use of State Level Bankers' Committees.
