'Dermatologically tested' on skincare labels only means dermatologists checked that a product does not irritate skin, says Gurugram dermatologist Dr Noopur Jain. It is not the same as clinically proven, hypoallergenic or suitable for sensitive skin. Since test methods, sample sizes and duration vary, she advises buyers not to treat the label as automatic proof of safety or effectiveness.
