Rare Nanotyrannus skeleton 'Jodi' sells for $47.3 million
A mounted skeleton of Nanotyrannus, a Late Cretaceous carnivore once mistaken for a young Tyrannosaurus rex, has sold at Sotheby's in New York for $47.3m. Nicknamed Jodi and about 3m tall, it had been expected to fetch at least $9m. The sale, a year after scientists confirmed it as a distinct genus, has revived debate over fossils going into private hands.
