Over 2 million eels counted on a single underwater mountain off Tasmania

Scientists have counted more than 2 million basketwork eels gathering on Patience Seamount, an underwater mountain in Australia's Huon Marine Park off Tasmania. The eels assemble there every year, most likely to spawn, though the exact reason remains unknown. While the gatherings were known to be enormous, this is the first time their numbers have been quantified.
