Survey finds Karnataka govt English-medium pupils struggle with English

A Kannada Development Authority study of 201 Class 7 students across 20 Karnataka government schools that switched to English medium in 2019-20 found many cannot narrate a short story, understand what they read or form sentences. The survey said children, especially in rural areas, rarely hear English outside class, leaving few chances to listen and speak.
