Census headcount to run from January 25 to February 28, 2027

India's population census will be conducted from January 25 to February 28, followed by a revisional round from March 1 to 5, according to a gazette notification by the Registrar General. Residents can self-enumerate between January 10 and 24, 2027. The reference date is midnight of March 1, 2027, with some poll-bound states and snow-bound areas excluded for now.
