AI has given most firms 'zero financial payoff', says Apollo economist

Apollo Global Management's chief economist Torsten Slok says AI has delivered no financial payoff to corporate America outside tech. Studying the 'S&P 493', the index minus Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia and Tesla, he found flat profit margins and revenue per worker, with no evidence that AI is boosting productivity despite massive investment and hype.
