Electric ferries, including 'flying' hydrofoils, arrive in US waters

A new wave of electric ferries is appearing in the US, with supporters saying replacing diesel vessels could cut emissions and improve air quality. In New York Harbor, Vessev, led by chief executive and co-founder Eric Laakmann, is showing off fully electric hydrofoil boats. Underwater "wings" lift the hull about a foot and a half above the water, sharply reducing drag and saving energy.
