Sri Lankan woman stranded in Cook Islands for three years without transit visa

Ruchira Ranasingha, 50, has been stuck in the Cook Islands since 2023 after a work visa application failed and her exit from New Zealand breached her asylum-linked visa. New Zealand and Australia have refused her a transit visa to fly home to Sri Lanka. She hopes to attend her only son's wedding in November.
