Sugarcane farmers call Karnataka bandh, plan Jail Bharo protest

Sugarcane farmers have called for a Karnataka bandh on Saturday after the Belagavi district administration issued prohibitory orders against their planned blockade of the Pune-Bengaluru National Highway. Farmers' leader Chunappa Pujeri said they would respect the order and not block the highway, but would observe the bandh across districts and start a Jail Bharo protest on Sunday.
