Webb captures turbulent star nursery in nearby galaxy
NASA's James Webb Space Telescope has imaged N159, a turbulent region of star formation packed with dense clumps of gas. The nursery lies about 161,000 light-years away in the Large Magellanic Cloud, one of the satellite galaxies orbiting the Milky Way. Scientists note the region has a lower metallicity, meaning fewer heavy elements, which makes it a valuable place to study how stars are born.
