Supreme Court warns Rajasthan of CBI probe over illegal sand mining

The Supreme Court has pulled up the Rajasthan government for regularising illegal sand mining along the Jojari-Luni-Bandi river system instead of acting against offenders. A bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta warned it would order a CBI probe if officials did not mend their ways. The court is monitoring pollution that threatens nearly two million people relying on the rivers.
