Kerala researchers find Mars-like sites in Tamil Nadu and Atacama

Researchers from Kerala have identified two key hydrous sulfate minerals in parts of Tamil Nadu and Chile's Atacama Desert that mirror geological, chemical and physical conditions on Mars, establishing them as Martian analogue sites. The team said such Earth sites are increasingly needed because orbital data alone cannot fully characterise Martian minerals or past environments.
