CBSE trims Class 10 board exams to five core subjects from 2028

CBSE has revised its scheme of studies so that Class 10 students sitting board exams from 2028 will be tested in five compulsory subjects: two languages, mathematics, science and social science. Students will still study nine curricular subjects, including a third language and art and physical education. Officials said newly added subjects had confused students and burdened them with nine to ten subjects.
