Vishnu Digambar Jayanti 2026 revisits five decades of Hindustani music through rare images

Delhi's annual Vishnu Digambar Jayanti festival, held by the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, marked Pt. Vishnu Digambar Paluskar's birth anniversary with an audio-visual presentation curated by photographer Avinash Pasricha. Spanning 1944 to 1994, mostly black-and-white images were paired with matching recordings, opening with D.V. Paluskar. Rare frames included a 14 or 15-year-old Amjad Ali Khan, possibly at one of his first major Delhi concerts.
