1,000-mile Mars cloud may reveal never-seen ice physics

A thin cloud that grows to over 1,000 miles near Mars's Arsia Mons volcano each spring and summer morning may form through homogeneous nucleation, where vapour turns directly into ice without dust, a new Nature Geoscience study suggests. The process has never been observed in nature and needs a 30°C temperature drop within 10 minutes and extreme humidity.
