Draft rules on animal experiments open for public comment till November 5

India's new draft Rules on animal experiments set out which animals may be used in research, which procedures are permitted, who authorises them and what safeguards must reduce suffering. The framework includes 3Rs-based protections and oversight mechanisms. Experts are asking whether these safeguards are adequate and whether gaps remain. Members of the public can submit comments on the draft until November 5.
