Ofcom sets out age checks ahead of UK social media ban for under-16s

Ofcom has recommended ways to verify that UK social media users are 16 or older, including photo or digital ID, banking checks and facial age estimation. The ban, due in March next year, will block under-16s from ten major platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat. The proposals need government approval, and many adults may also have to verify their age.
