Ofcom sets out age-check methods for UK under-16 social media ban

UK regulator Ofcom has recommended ways to verify that social media users are over 16 ahead of a ban due in March next year, which will block younger users from ten major platforms including Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat. Proposed methods include photo ID matching, banking-based checks and facial age estimation, subject to government approval.
