Bots wrote three-quarters of responses to UK disposable vape ban consultation

AI bots submitted 90,835 of 118,756 responses, or 76%, to the UK's 2023 consultation on banning disposable vapes, in a failed bid to block the policy, research in the journal Tobacco Control shows. Experts Nason Maani and Anna Gilmore called it the first documented large-scale automated interference in a public health consultation. Many responses came from a few IP addresses.
