Nairobi 2029 to bring World Athletics Championships to Africa for the first time

Nairobi will host the World Athletics Championships in 2029, the first time the event comes to Africa since it began in Helsinki in 1983. Kenya, the second most successful nation in championships history, hopes to turn its rich distance-running heritage, from Kipchoge Keino to Eliud Kipchoge and Faith Kipyegon, into a lasting legacy for the continent.
