India's AI plan: the model goes to the data, not the reverse

MeitY has proposed a 'Data Empowerment and Protection Architecture (DEPA) for AI Training' to build AI models on local data while keeping data owners in control. Principal Scientific Adviser Ajay Kumar Sood said under DEPA the model travels to the data, rather than data travelling to the model, limiting open access for Big Tech.
