SC orders war injury pension for Army veteran who fell ill at Kargil

The Supreme Court has directed the Centre to grant a war injury pension, instead of a disability pension, to Army veteran Narendra Kumar, who developed rheumatoid arthritis while posted at Kargil between 2003 and 2005 under Operation Rakshak. Dismissing the government's appeal, a bench of Justices PS Narasimha and Alok Aradhe said a policy must be read by its plain wording.
