SEBI plans network to build skills of independent directors

SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey said the regulator plans a capacity-building network to raise the standard of independent directors and improve interaction among stakeholders. Speaking at a Bharat Chamber of Commerce event in Kolkata on Saturday, he said their role now goes beyond compliance to protecting shareholders and strengthening business performance, requiring a balance between oversight and independence.
