62% of Indians say pay hikes can't keep up with inflation

Grant Thornton Bharat's Financial Resilience Report 2026 found that 62% of working Indians believe their income growth won't keep pace with future inflation, rising to 70% among those aged 25-34. About 58% earn under Rs 15 lakh a year, 32% are their household's sole earner and 83% say they are not prepared for retirement.
