NASA's Swift observatory ends science mission after two decades
NASA's Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory has ended its science mission because it is now orbiting less than 275 km above Earth, where atmospheric drag stops its telescopes from steadily tracking targets. Swift made its final observation on October 20 and is expected to re-enter the atmosphere in the coming weeks. Designed for a two-year mission, it worked more than 10 times as long.
