BJP-JD(S) sweep all four Karnataka Council seats in blow to Congress

The BJP-JD(S) alliance won all four Karnataka Legislative Council seats polled on October 23, two teachers' and two graduates' constituencies. In the biggest upset, five-time MLC Puttanna of the Congress lost Bengaluru Teachers to A.P. Ranganath. Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar accepted the defeat and promised introspection, but said it was no precursor to future elections.
